LONDON REPRESENTS AIMS TO CHANGE THE FACE OF FASHION WITH ZALANDO DURING LONDON FASHION WEEK
Having championed inclusive and sustainable fashion for over 10 years, London Represents will be showcasing an eclectic mix of established and emerging brands that speak to fashion’s ability to influence change in the industry. London Represent is thrilled to announce that Zalando, one of Europe’s leading fashion companies, has become the headline sponsor of their upcoming show on 17th February, during London Fashion Week (LFW).

The fascinating world of inclusive and sustainable fashion will come to life by means of a runway show, an onsite interactive booth and a panel talk with people from across the industry. Models dressed in a selection of eight fashion brands, both established and emerging ones, will grace the runway.

Adaptive fashion in the foreground

To provide guests with a comprehensive experience, an onsite interactive booth by Zalando will give them the chance to get a closer look at key features of adaptive clothing. A hands-on way to learn more about Zalando’s journey to the recent launch of their first collection featuring adaptive clothing specifically designed for people with temporary and permanent impairments. “We are incredibly excited about our collaboration with Zalando as we come together to bring this event to the international audience who flock into London for fashion week,” says London Represents co-founder, Gaia Beck. “At London Represents, we believe that fashion should not be limited by physical barriers and strive to support a more diverse runway.”

“Inclusion is what we stand for and we are delighted to partner with great people along the way that also share the same vision.” Samanta Bullock – London Represents Co-Founder and 100 most influential disabled people. “As London’s most inclusive and sustainable fashion show, we’ll also be hosting a panel talk about how to design for the disabled community. Thought leaders from the industry will discuss how to overcome barriers and find solutions to make fashion more inclusive.”

Jemma Garner, Business Developer and Initiative Project Owner for inclusive assortment at Zalando, is proud to be one of the panellists: “At Zalando, we’re committed to advancing inclusion and diversity in fashion through our holistic do.BETTER strategy. Introducing the Adaptive Fashion collections is part of our commitment to offer a truly diverse assortment for underrepresented groups across price, size, and style. We are very excited to collaborate with London Represents as we believe it will send a powerful message across the industry that people of all abilities should be seen and included in fashion.”

Among the other confirmed panellists are Jamie Gill, Chair D&I and executive board member at the British Fashion Council; and Millie Flemington-Clare, founder of Human Beauty, a disability friendly makeup brand.

Inspiring meaningful change

Fashion has long been recognised as an art form capable of breaking barriers and creating meaningful change in society. As London is widely regarded as one of the biggest international platforms for fashion brands, this collaboration will no doubt act as an example for other organisations to follow suit by considering how they too can make clothing designs more accessible for people with disabilities.

London Represents firmly believes everyone deserves a place in fashion and is proud to join forces with Zalando in working towards creating a truly inclusive environment.

The event on 17th February 2023 at St John’s, Hyde Park will feature established sports stars and celebrities walking the catwalk. Special guests including leading models and influencers with disabilities will shine alongside rising stars representing a variety of abilities, races, gender, size and ages. Join us in what promises to be an incredibly exciting event and discover a more inclusive face of fashion.
